Tribute to Louise Page me and Louise meet at School 1973-1978 courted for a while and married at 18 we have 3 Daughters with 10 Grand-Children and 3 Great Grand-Children. - wife was I'll a couple of days she was tired couldn't get off settee stiff neck her head lent to the left side red rash felt fatigued didn't want to go out or go shopping at total change of her routine so we visited A&E on a 999 call bloods done told nothing wrong it will be a small infection nothing to worry about sent home with antibiotics This was 999 call number 1 to A&E next 24 hrs Mrs was the same felt sick was very very sleepy so next day went back to A&E again on another 999 call by now she struggled to walk increase tablets they said are you sure about this ? something not right yes were sure nothing wrong small infection This was 999 call number 2 to A&E next day tablets not worked Mrs now sleeping a lot on settee come bed time tried to get Mrs upstairs she couldnt get upstairs collapsed on stairs dial 999 again so we go back to A&E for the third time on our 3rd 999 call in three days doctor came said Mrs was sleepy tired because she's spending too much time a sleep get her up and about, - WHAT ? i said, this the 3rd time we been here on 999 calls - by this time Mrs was saying to me "who are you ?" in front of the A&E doctor she was confused she didnt know who i was - we've been married 31 yrs at the time the Doc wasnt interested This was 999 call number 3 to A&E it was 3am on the 5th day since this started. been to A&E 3x now Doc adamant she not getting admitted got home managed to get Mrs to bed 3.30am ish must have fallen a sleep 9am ish not happy dial 999 ambulance people and ask if they could take us the another A&E and not Local A&E i need to get her admitted they refused we have to go to our local A&E Thats it. so i rang out of hours GP service i explained to them whats been going on they asked me to wake Mrs up she wouldnt wake up they said a doctor will be there in the next hour a doc came couldnt believe it when he saw her i explained my problem getting Mrs admitted to hospital he rang a 999 ambulance straight away while waiting for the ambulance the house phone rang it was the hospital saying they were sending a ambulance with the police to get Mrs to hospital NOW i told them i was already coming in a ambulance again this would be our 4th visit to hospital on fourth 999 call Mrs was taken to a ward docs were running about like idiots trying to get drips into Mrs she was pulling them out saying Dogs and spiders were attacking her she was delerious by now i was taken to a room and told my wife was going into ICU they dont think she would live - this was just 8 hours after being discharged from A&E for the 3rd time. i said do you know ive been coming here for more than 4 days telling you Mrs was ill they said yes we already started a investigation to what we done wrong This was 999 call number 4 to finally get admitted Mrs had MENINGITIS years later it was found that just about everything the hospital could get wrong they got it wrong inc not following up on bloods that showed the staph infection that causes the meningitis infection GMC Found it all brought the profession into disrepute etc docs disaplined one doc never been registered with GMC Since Mrs had 32 days in ICU on life support after 7 days she was transferred to Hallamshire hospital with a police escort because they were struggling to keep her alive. eventually she was transferred back to local hospital after ICU it was about 10 days in HDU Then to a ward for rehab in ICU Mrs needed loads of support for her heart, blood pressure, kidneys etc and worry over a brain injury. Meningitis smashed her body to BITS she went onto a ward to recover in hospital learning to walk talk eat write and try remember things she had no idea what had happened to her. we lived at hospitals never away she had cognitive problems couldnt remember things needed 24/7 care recovery would take months we went to a hospital because she'd suffered kidney problems all these things were new to us she not had then before she went into icu with meningitis. We lived at local rehabilitation centre too trying to learn and doing things again.Mrs was in Hospital again something not right, Family asked for full bloods diagnosis. docs came back 2 days to live kidneys failed, well make her comfortable NO you wont Got a wheelchair discharged her home got a bed down stars brought GP and Hospice for end of life care. 36hrs Mrs passed away. only one institution at fault here they killed my wife one doc has never been registered with GMC Since / disciplinary action
